Perfect for low-voltage operations, the motors in this gearbox run on 1.5 to 4.5 volts and can handle currents up to a few amps. This makes them well-suited for pairing with motor driver carriers like the DRV8833. To prevent overheating due to stalling, it's advisable to use stall-detection sensors or monitor the robot to avoid prolonged stalls.
The gearbox includes a 4 mm diameter round output shaft compatible with specific wheels designed for Tamiya 4 mm round shafts. Additionally, a 3 mm universal mounting hub can fit on the smaller threaded end of the shaft, although caution is advised as the hub’s set screw might damage the thread.
For detailed motor specifications, refer to the Mabuchi motor RE-260 data sheet. To explore various gear ratios available in Tamiya's range, a gearbox gear ratio comparison guide is available.
Note: This worm gearbox comes as a kit and requires assembly. To integrate it into robotics projects, you'll need to connect the motors to your own robot controller.
