SparkFun Triple Axis Accelerometer and Gyro Breakout - MPU-6050

SparkFun's MPU-6050 is a compact, high-tech motion processing unit that combines a 3-axis gyroscope and a 3-axis accelerometer on a single silicon die. Equipped with an onboard Digital Motion Processor™ (DMP™), this device is capable of processing complex 9-axis MotionFusion algorithms, eliminating the issue of cross-axis alignment that can occur with discrete parts.

The MPU-6050 comes with a breakout board that makes it easy to integrate into your project. All necessary pins are broken out to 2.54mm headers, including the auxiliary master I2C bus. This allows the MPU-6050 to access external magnetometers and other sensors.

This versatile unit offers a variety of features. It provides I2C digital-output of 6 or 9-axis MotionFusion data in rotation matrix, quaternion, Euler Angle, or raw data format. It operates on an input voltage of 2.3 - 3.4V and has selectable solder jumpers on CLK, FSYNC and AD0. The tri-axis angular rate sensor (gyro) has a sensitivity of up to 131 LSBs/dps and a full-scale range of ±250, ±500, ±1000, and ±2000dps. Meanwhile, the tri-axis accelerometer has a programmable full-scale range of ±2g, ±4g, ±8g and ±16g.

One of the standout features of the MPU-6050 is its Digital Motion Processing™ (DMP™) engine. This offloads complex MotionFusion, sensor timing synchronization and gesture detection. It also has embedded algorithms for run-time bias and compass calibration, requiring no user intervention. Additionally, it includes a digital-output temperature sensor.
