The kit includes the SparkFun ESP32 IoT RedBoard, enabling wireless music streaming from an audio source to Espressif's ESP32 WROOM. The audio is transmitted to a SparkFun WM8960 Audio Codec via I2S, a standard audio data protocol. The audio codec is a low-power, high-quality stereo codec packed with features like advanced on-chip digital signal processing, automatic level control (ALC), programmable gain amplifier (PGA), pop and click suppression, 3D enhancement, flexible analog input pins and signal routing, multiple boost stages, and software-configurable I2S settings and analog audio path via I2C.
The SparkFun Qwiic Wireless Speaker Kit is perfect for crafting your own wireless audio BT adapter, portable digital player, sound-reducing ear muffs, or mixing audio to an output. It's part of the SparkFun Qwiic Connect System, an ecosystem of I2C sensors, actuators, shields, and cables designed to make prototyping faster and less prone to error. All Qwiic-enabled boards use a common 1mm pitch, 4-pin JST connector, reducing the amount of required PCB space and ensuring polarized connections so you can’t connect it incorrectly.
The kit includes:
Documents include schematics, board dimensions, hookup guides, Fritzing parts, driver installation guides, board definition installation guides, Arduino IDE download, hardware repos, and more for the IoT RedBoard, Audio Codec Breakout, and TRRS 3.5mm Jack Breakout.
