The VL53L4CD sensor has a precision of 1mm and an accuracy of around +/-7mm (white target: 88%, indoor, no infrared). It can read a minimum distance of 1mm, with a full field of view of 18° and a read rate of up to 100Hz. The sensor requires a power supply of 2.6V-3.5V to operate. Before using, remember to remove the protective sticker on the VL53L4CD to ensure accurate readings.
The SparkFun Distance Sensor is a CLASS 1 LASER PRODUCT CLASSIFIED IEC 60825-1 2014. It is part of the SparkFun Qwiic Connect System, an ecosystem of I2C sensors, actuators, shields, and cables that simplifies prototyping and reduces errors. All Qwiic-enabled boards use a common 1mm pitch, 4-pin JST connector, saving PCB space and preventing incorrect connections.
Key features of the SparkFun Distance Sensor include an operating voltage of 2.6V to 3.5V, average current consumption of 22mA, a measurement range of 1mm to 1300mm, resolution of ±1mm, a light source of Class 1 940nm VCSEL, a field of view of 18°, and a max read rate of 100Hz. The sensor also includes two Qwiic Connectors, a 7-bit unshifted I2C Address: 0x29, and an operating temperature range of -30°C to +85°C. Please note that the I2C address of the VL53L4CD is 0x29 and is hardware defined. To communicate with multiple VL53L4CD sensors on a single bus, a multiplexer/Mux is required.
