MyoWare 2.0 Wireless Shield

Description Attachments

The MyoWare® 2.0 Wireless Shield takes readings from the MyoWare 2.0 Muscle Sensor and transmits them wirelessly using the ESP32-WROOM module. It includes a built-in LiPo battery to power both the muscle sensor and the ESP32 module. The shield features snap connectors and low-profile pogo pins for easy stacking on the MyoWare 2.0 Muscle Sensor. With a simple power switch, the sensor gets all the power it needs to function.

Programming is made easy with the USB Type C and CH340 USB-to-serial converter, compatible with the Arduino IDE. The board includes various protection circuits: ESD protection diodes for USB data lines, a resettable PTC fuse for VUSB, and ideal diodes for protection on the VUSB and VBATT nets. A reset button is available to reset the ESP32, ensuring smooth operation.

The shield comes with a 40mAh single-cell LiPo battery, rechargeable via the USB Type C connector. The dedicated charging circuit is set to a rate of about 40mA. Running the MyoWare 2.0 Muscle Sensor on battery power and transmitting data wirelessly ensures complete isolation from the power grid, enhancing portability and convenience.

Power regulation down to 3.3V is included, with user-selectable power sources and on/off switches. A bootloader mode button is also present, doubling as a general-purpose button. The board features two horizontal Qwiic connectors and 2.2kΩ pull-up resistors for additional Qwiic-enabled devices. Standard 2.54mm-spaced plated through holes (PTHs) break out a few of the ESP32 module's pins for user convenience.

Status LEDs for power (PWR), charge status (CHG), user LED (13), and envelope (ENV) provide clear visual indicators. Additional jumpers for power (PWR), USB shield (SHLD), reference (REF), raw EMG (RAW), envelope (ENV), and I²C pull-up resistors (I²C) are included. This shield is perfect as a teaching tool to minimize wiring or to add myoelectric flair to costumes and projects.

Note: Due to the installed battery, this item may take longer to process and does not qualify for same-day shipping. Additionally, batteries cannot be shipped via Ground or Economy methods to Alaska or Hawaii.

Important: MyoWare and the Wireless Shield are not intended for use in diagnosing, curing, mitigating, treating, or preventing disease in humans or animals.

The MyoWare® 2.0 ecosystem includes shields that interface with the MyoWare® 2.0 Muscle Sensor. This sensor is an affordable, Arduino-compatible, all-in-one electromyography (EMG) sensor from Advancer Technologies. Its innovative connector system allows for easy snapping of shields, compact low-profile connections, and simple integration with a microcontroller's analog input to measure muscle activity without soldering.

This product is a collaboration with Brian Kaminski from Advancer Technologies. A portion of each sale supports product development and support.
