Pimoroni LTR-559 Light & Proximity Sensor Breakout

Compact light and proximity sensor breakout with LTR 559ALS 01. Measures ambient light from 0.01 to 64,000 lux and proximity to about 5 cm. Suited for automatic or gesture toggled nightlight control and ear detection style tasks near a display.

I2C address 0x23; IR and UV filtering; 50 or 60 Hz flicker rejection; 3.3 V or 5 V logic; reverse polarity protection; Raspberry Pi compatible pinout on pins 1 3 5 7 9; Breakout Garden compatible; dimensions 19 x 19 x 3 mm.

Examples: trigger Unicorn pHAT when ambient light drops below a threshold; wave a hand to toggle LEDs; blank a touchscreen when a cover closes; adjust display brightness from lux readings; log light levels for automation.

Includes board, 1 by 5 male header, and 1 by 5 female right angle header. Solder the right angle header to mount on the lower left 5 pins of the Raspberry Pi.

Software support for Raspberry Pi with Python and for Raspberry Pi Pico with C plus plus or MicroPython. Provides continuous ambient light and proximity data over I2C for simple control loops.

Note: current batch has a Qw ST connector that is not functional. Core I2C pads and Raspberry Pi header are fully operational.
