Fan SHIM lowers Raspberry Pi 4 CPU temperature with a compact 30 mm 5 V fan and software control. It slips onto the GPIO via a friction fit header, adds an RGB LED and a programmable tactile switch, and stays very quiet at 18.6 dB during typical operation.
• 4200 RPM, 0.05 m3 per min airflow, 18.6 dB acoustic noise
• Software control via Python library and daemon for temperature triggered or manual modes
• RGB LED indicates status or temperature; switch can toggle modes or power
• Friction fit header, no solder; basic assembly in under two minutes
• Compatible with Raspberry Pi 4, 3 B Plus, 3 A Plus; size 45 x 39 x 11 mm; fits Pibow Coupe 4 case
• Needs a booster header for HATs; not compatible with I2S devices on BCM18; not heatsink compatible
• Tolerance note: slight pin splay may improve contact; soldering provides the most robust connection
• Ubuntu setup: add enable_uart=0 to usercfg.txt in the system boot partition
