Take your robotics and automation projects to the next level with our compact breakout board featuring TI’s DRV8874 motor driver. This powerful yet tiny board operates within a broad voltage range of 4.5 V to 37 V and can effortlessly handle a continuous current of up to 2.1 A for a single bidirectional brushed DC motor.
What sets it apart is the integrated current sensing and regulation system that limits peak motor current to around 4.4 A by default. This ensures your motor operates within safe limits while achieving the torque and speed you need. You don’t have to worry about the safety of your project either. The DRV8874 comes with built-in protection against under-voltage, over-current, and over-temperature conditions. Plus, our carrier board takes it one step further by adding reverse voltage protection.
Different control options are available to suit your needs. The driver supports three input control modes: Phase/Enable, PWM, and Independent Half-Bridge control. With this versatility, you can easily adapt the board to a variety of applications. The board itself is also quite compact, measuring just 0.6" by 0.7", making it ideal for space-sensitive projects.
The driver is designed to be user-friendly. All you need is a motor voltage between 4.5 V and 37 V supplied to the VIN or VM pin, and a logic voltage between 1.8 V and 5.5 V for the SLEEP pin to wake it up from its default sleep mode. Once out of sleep, you can use various control modes to fine-tune motor behavior.
