The Adafruit HX711 Breakout board is engineered for precision measurement in real-world applications. It features a 24-bit differential ADC with advanced gain circuitry, ideal for pairing with Wheatstone bridge arrangements such as strain gauges or load cells.
Equipped with a HX711 ADC chip and a 6-port terminal block, it seamlessly integrates one or two 4-wire sensors. Connection is straightforward: the E- pad (commonly black) goes to ground, E+ (commonly red) connects to power, while A- and A+ pads link to the bridge output (often white and green wires). A second gauge or voltage can be measured using B- and B+ pads.
It offers flexible gain settings—64x or 128x on channel A, and a fixed 32x on channel B—capturing minute resistance changes induced by sensor deformation. These are transformed into accurate force or mass readings, accessible via our Arduino library for quick interfacing.
For a streamlined setup, this module uses a two-wire protocol akin to SPI. Enhanced by pre-soldered terminal blocks, a second bridge option, and a rate-changing slide switch (10 SPS or 80 SPS), it improves upon the original Sparkfun HX711 design. For I2C compatibility, explore the NAU7802 breakout option.
