The module, with the L298N as controller, is a double H-bridge motor driver with little heat production and interference. The module can even handle a peak voltage of 46v and a peak current of 3A.
This module can control up to 2A with a power of 25w. With this a 2-phase stepper motor, a 4-phase stepper motor or two DC motors can be driven.
The built-in 78M05 chip is powered by the driver voltage, so when the driver voltage rises above 12V, an external 5V power supply must be connected.

Q The Netherlands LammertIf a 24 V power supply is connected to positions 4 and 5, then jumper 3 does not have to be placed, how does the IC get its power supply? Should no voltage of 5V be applied to position 6? Answer this question

Only a short manual was missing. Paper version is not required, but a QR code with a link to the manual would be useful.

A gross error crept over your description on the photo; Indeed, the terminal indicated + 5V is in fact + 12V and the terminal indicated + 12V is the pin + V! Remember to correct it, otherwise, guaranteed destruction of the module!
