The board is designed for easy integration with your system. It comes with the Qwiic system, which allows for solder-free connections. For those who prefer using a breadboard, 2.54mm-spaced pins are also available. The board also includes a rechargeable backup battery that keeps the module configuration and satellite data available for up to two weeks, dramatically decreasing the time-to-first-fix.
The NEO-M8P-2 module offers a wealth of configuration options. You can set up geofencing, adjust the I2C address and update rates, and even increase the high precision RTK solution to 4Hz. The GPS-RTK has four communication ports: USB, UART (with 3.3V TTL), I2C, and SPI.
The SparkFun GPS-RTK Board - NEO-M8P-2 (Qwiic) is part of the Qwiic Connect System, an ecosystem of I2C sensors, actuators, shields, and cables designed to make prototyping faster and less error-prone. All Qwiic-enabled boards use a common 1mm pitch, 4-pin JST connector, which saves PCB space and prevents incorrect connections.
Key features of the SparkFun GPS-RTK Board - NEO-M8P-2 (Qwiic) include a voltage of 5V or 3.3V (with all logic at 3.3V), a current of approximately 35mA, a time to first fix of 29s (cold) and 1s (hot), and a max navigation rate of 10Hz for PVT and raw data, 5Hz for RTK, and 4Hz for moving baseline RTK. The board's horizontal position accuracy is 2.5m without RTK and 0.025m with RTK. The board weighs 6.3g and measures 40.6mm x 33mm.
