Description Links Attachments

The SparkFun NEO-M9N GPS Breakout is a superior GPS board that offers remarkable configuration options. The NEO-M9N module is a 92-channel u-blox M9 engine GNSS receiver, which has the capacity to receive signals from the GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and BeiDou constellations with an accuracy of approximately 1.5 meters. This breakout supports concurrent reception of four GNSS, maximizing position accuracy in challenging conditions and decreasing lock time. The onboard rechargeable battery ensures backup power, enabling the GPS to get a hot lock within seconds. Moreover, this u-blox receiver supports I2C, making it perfect for Qwiic compatibility, thus preserving valuable UART ports. With the Qwiic system, there is no need for soldering to connect it to the rest of your system. However, 2.54mm-spaced pins are still available for those who prefer to use a breadboard.

The NEO-M9N module is designed to detect jamming and spoofing events and report them to the host so that the system can respond accordingly. It also features a SAW (Surface Acoustic Wave) filter and an LNA (Low Noise Amplifier) in the RF path, allowing for normal operation even under strong RF interferences.

U-blox based GPS products can be configured using the comprehensive windows program called u-center. This allows you to configure a wide range of functions including baud rates, update rates, geofencing, spoofing detection, external interrupts, SBAS/D-GPS, and more. All of these configurations can be done within the SparkFun Arduino Library.

The SparkFun NEO-M9N GPS Breakout also features an onboard rechargeable battery that powers the RTC on the NEO-M9N. This reduces the time-to-first fix from a cold start (approximately 24 seconds) to a hot start (approximately 2 seconds). The battery can maintain RTC and GNSS orbit data for a considerable period without being connected to power.

Please note that this product requires an antenna. Be sure to choose a suitable U.FL antenna for your project.

The SparkFun Qwiic Connect System is a comprehensive ecosystem of I2C sensors, actuators, shields, and cables that makes prototyping faster and less prone to error. All Qwiic-enabled boards use a common 1mm pitch, 4-pin JST connector, reducing the amount of required PCB space. The polarized connections ensure that you can’t hook it up incorrectly.

The NEO-M9N GPS Breakout can also be automatically detected, scanned, configured, and logged using the OpenLog Artemis datalogger system, eliminating the need for programming, soldering, or setup.

Features of the SparkFun NEO-M9N GPS Breakout include an integrated U.FL connector, a 92-channel GNSS receiver, 1.5m horizontal accuracy, a 25Hz max update rate, and a max altitude of 80,000m. It also supports NMEA, UBX, and RTCM protocols over UART or I2C interfaces.
